İTÜ’s 39 Academicians in Stanford University’s Ranking
İTÜ’s 39 academicians ranked among the top 2% of the world according to the article titled “Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators” published in PLOS Biology by Dr. John PA Ioannidis, K. W. Boyack, and J. Baas from Stanford University. İTÜ became the Turkish university with the highest number of academicians who entered the list of best scientists of the world.

A research team led by Dr. John PA Ioannidis from Stanford University created a database that covers the best 159,684 scientists (top 2%) of the world based on standardized citation indicators.
The standardized citation indicators were calculated based on citation numbers, H-index values, co-authorship, and career-long impact factors of scientists. By using these indicators, the study classified scientists into 22 scientific fields and 176 subfields.
The highest number of Turkish academicians in the list are from İTÜ
İTÜ became the Turkish university that has the highest number of academicians in the world’s best scientists list with its 39 scientists. In the list we have academicians from Environmental Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Chemistry, Chemistry Engineering and Geological Engineering departments, who rank among the first 100 in their own fields.
