İTÜ is the Second Most Entrepreneurial and Innovative University of Turkey

Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index 2020, in which the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) ranked universities according to their entrepreneurship and innovation performance was announced. According to the announced results, Istanbul Technical University and İhsan Doğramacı Bilkent University shared the second place with 74,9 points.

Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index - 2020, in which the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) ranked universities according to their entrepreneurship and innovation performance was announced. According to the results announced by Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, Istanbul Technical University and İhsan Doğramacı Bilkent University shared the second place with 74,9 points.

185 Universities were evaluated

This year, 185 universities that have more than 50 faculty members were included in the index. 282 institutions contributed to the data collection process. Ministry of Industry and Technology, Council of Higher Education (CoHE), Presidency of Defense Industries, Ministry of Treasury and Finance, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization (KOSGEB), Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT), General Directorate Of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM), Technology Development Foundation of Turkey (TTGV), Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA), Center for EU Education and Youth Programmes, and universities were the most prominent shareholders of this process under TÜBİTAK’s leadership.

The index ranked universities according to 22 indicators under 4 headings: scientific and technological research competence, intellectual property pool, collaboration and interaction, economical contribution and commercialization.

Making a statement about the ranking on his social media account, our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu said, “We ranked as the second most entrepreneurial and innovative university in TÜBİTAK Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index – 2020. I would like to thank all my colleagues and students who contributed.”
