Istanbul Technical University Vocational and Technical High School (İTÜ MTAL) was given the Best Presentation award in the “4th Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp and Teacher Workshop” held in People’s Republic of China.
“4th Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp and Teacher Workshop” organized by Children and Youth Science Center of CAST with the collaboration of ECO Science Foundation, Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, and China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) was held online this year because of the Covid-19 pandemic. İTÜ MTAL students and teachers who attended the workshop made our country proud with their successful presentation.
İTÜ Vocational and Technical High School (İTÜ MTAL) students Kayra Koray Yılmaz, (Electric-Electronic Technology), Şevval Zehra Kartal (Maritime) and Halil Yusuf Solak (Information Technologies) attended the teenager camp, in which many countries participated, with their “Protection Guideline for COVID-19” project on the Health theme under the guidance of their English teacher Selin Sarıoğlu.
İTÜ MTAL students prepared a guideline about how students can protect themselves against coronavirus during the COVID-19 pandemic, and through visual means it was aimed that students internalize the specified precautions. The target points were told in a video in a way that can be kept in memory longer and adopted in our daily life.
Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Toros “Our project-based achievements will continue”
İTÜ MTAL Principal Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Toros congratulated his students and their teacher for their successful presentation and said that even though İTÜ MTAL is only in its second year of establishment, it shows up at international events with its projects and will continue to be active from now on. Prof. Dr. Toros proceeded as follows: “Advances in communication technologies continue to make far away near. Widespread use of virtual environments in education diminishes the distances between schools. The scales of time and space are changing. Today, when the world is going through a great ordeal, institutions and organizations that can turn this crisis into opportunity are running towards success. Together with students, teachers, parents, administrations, sectors and media, they shape our future and humanity by putting the human to the center. It is easier in the virtual environment for all stakeholders to create a shared goal and make close collaboration for a bright future within the framework of Turkey’s 2023 Education Vision. This event that brings together countries on the Silk Road undertook the important mission of strengthening intercultural exchange, encouraging international collaboration and inspiring innovation. As İTÜ MTAL, we are proud and happy to represent our country with success.”
